Vive Product Tour
Take a look at this Product Tour that's still live at https://www.vive.com/us/product/.
The Problem
At the time of its launch, the HTC Vive was a net-new product in an emerging and highly competitive market. The goal was to help the customer understand the benefits of Vive's new hardware–specifically the headset, controllers & base stations and accessories–in a way that was easy for them to digest.
The Process
I worked with UX Research to define the user through persona exploration with an emphasis on early adopters. Combined with user insights and marketing research, I crafted a step-by-step tour of each hardware type to help the customer understand high-tech concepts in bite-sized pieces.
The Solution
A slideshow for each type of hardware (headset, controllers & base stations, accessories) that helped educate and sell the customer on the HTC Vive, along with a static header at the top of the page for customers to order these new products.
What I'd Change
During internal reviews, my recommendation was to have each slideshow end with a CTA to order the Vive. At the time, our internal business partners wanted a static header to be the main placement of this CTA. I also shared feedback that it didn't make sense to have two primary CTA buttons next to each other (one for "Order Vive" and the other for "Test Your PC") since I thought this would be confusing for the customer, but our internal business partners wanted to move forward with both buttons.
